Frommer's Review
Maybe too close to the Red Light District for some people's taste, and on a slightly seedy street, the Winston is a step up from grungy and has a hang-loose, alternative rep. You might even hear some (fanciful) comparisons made to New York's Chelsea Hotel. Local artists created paintings, photographs, and other works of what you might call art, for the halls, rooms, doors, and bathrooms. The sparely furnished rooms vary in size, contain from two to six beds, and are tolerably clean and maintained. None of them has a view that's worth looking out the window for. Bathrooms are small, but have most of the requisite bits and pieces, and most rooms that don't have a bathtub do have a shower. The downstairs Winston Bar is a fun meeting place and has live music on weekends.
