Owl Hotel ReviewIf small but chic and reasonably priced describes the sort of hotel you prefer, you'll be pleased at the Owl, in the pleasant residential area around Vondelpark. One of Amsterdam's better values, the hotel has been owned by the same family since 1972 and is bright, tidy, and well looked after. The guest rooms aren't very big, but they're not cramped either, and they've all been kept up to date, with furnishings and decor that aim at being cozy rather than chic. For families that don't mind sharing a room, the quads are a particularly good deal. There's a pleasant lounge bar, and a stroll in the small garden makes for a nice way to soothe the strains of a stressful day's sightseeing. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
