Standing room only is often the space situation here, and the crowds sometimes overflow onto the sidewalk. It seems that, quite by accident, Hoppe has become a tourist attraction. Locals love this spot, which dates from 1670. Trendy young professionals often pass through for a drink on their way home, mingling with hardened drinkers who pass through at any time and rarely leave. A convivial, smoky atmosphere and authentic decor make it a great place to while away an afternoon. It's worth stopping by just to see.
