Frommer's Review
Built in 1989, this formerly Swiss-owned resort, separated from the beach by a nicely landscaped garden, still draws a good deal of its clientele from Switzerland and Germany. Many guests are snorkelers; La Sirena offers dive packages with Anguillian Divers (www.anguilliandivers.com). Some critics have called the units, redecorated in 2007, hip and stylish. I'd go for sedate and comfy: Most, in three two-story bougainvillea-draped wings, have dark wood or rattan and wicker furniture, rugs with interesting abstract patterns, king-size beds, and bathrooms with tub/shower combinations. Ground-floor rooms have a veranda, while upper-story rooms have balconies. One real drawback in Anguilla's hot climate: The rooms have minibars, but only the villas have fridges in which to store cold drinks and snacks. The Mahi-Mahi restaurant honors its Swiss heritage with a weekly fondue night; it also has a Thai night and a Caribbean barbeque night. The off-season packages offer exceptional value.
Facilities:
Restaurant; bar; 2 outdoor pools; dive center; snorkeling; windsurfing; car rental; limited room service; massage; babysitting; laundry service
