Frommer's Review
Built in 1989 on 1 hectare (2 1/2 acres) of sandy soil, a 4-minute walk from a clean white beach, this Swiss-owned resort is inviting, intimate, and low-key. At least 80% of its clientele comes from Switzerland or Germany. Accommodations, arranged in two-story bougainvillea-draped wings, are large and airy, with fine rattan and wicker furnishings. Some have air-conditioning; all have ceiling fans. Rooms have large double, queen-, or king-size beds with fine linens. Bathrooms are spacious, with tub/shower combinations. To reach the beach, guests walk down through the garden and a sandy footpath. Beach hats, umbrellas, and lounge chairs await on the sand. If possible, request rooms away from the second-floor Top of the Palms restaurant to avoid the kitchen's noise and fumes.
The Top of the Palms is open to cool ocean breezes and offers views over Meads Bay and the surrounding treetops. A well-trained local chef prepares specialties ranging from alpine fondues to West Indian favorites.
