Arawak Beach Inn ReviewThis funky, very casual hotel offers good value (on pricey Anguilla) for the laid-back traveler. Accommodations consist of studios and one-bedroom suites (some with kitchenettes) in weathered shingle-roofed, sorbet-hued, octagonal-shaped buildings; those on the upper floors have wrap-around balconies with great views of the sea. The eclectic decor runs from Spartan white with splashes of color to more classic four-poster rattan beds and dark wood furniture. Each lodging has a smallish shower-only bathroom and private balcony or terrace. Air-conditioning, high-speed Internet access, and cable TV are available in deluxe units. Swimmers can head for the virtually private little Arawak Cove, 2 minutes' walk behind the resort, which has its own small pool; Shoal Bay's phenomenal beach is a 10-minute drive away. The Arawak Café, which merges with the hotel bar and Wi-Fi accessible lobby, has great pizzas and Continental/Caribbean dishes. Innkeeper Maria Hawkins has lots of information on what to see and do on Anguilla. If one room is not enough for your needs, ask about the substantial discount available when a family needs a second room. | 0 stars | Frommer's Recommended | |
| 1 stars | Frommer's Highly Recommended | |
| 2 stars | Frommer's Very Highly Recommended | |
| 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
