The Barn on Howard's Cove Bed & Breakfast

Just a few minutes out of town, visitors can stay in a converted 1850 horse barn. But this isn't just a barn -- it's a refuge. It's a little hard to find, set back on a driveway and perched on a quiet cove. A stone fireplace dominates the common room. Climb the spiral staircase to two delightful rooms -- one with a queen-size bed and pullout love seat, the other with a queen-size bed, sleeping loft, and sitting room with balcony overlooking the water. In the hall is a kitchenette with fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, and video library. You can relax on the deck or in the gazebo, or launch a canoe and go exploring. If this place is booked but you want to stay on Howard's Cove, ask about Meadow Garden, a neighboring B&B with two rooms, or the Farmhouse, which has four rooms and a pool. Both are on the waterfront and have dock access. Rates are $100 a room in both B&Bs.
