Vanilla ReviewDon't get me wrong: I love Turkish food as much as (actually, more than) anyone. But coming from a world of culinary variety, I just need something different. Apparently so did Brit-born Wayne Hoggart, who lives in Antalya with his Turkish wife, Emel. This cosmopolitan outpost, located in a hugely atmospheric stone building, serves as a bar, a cafe, a lounge and a restaurant. Grab a newspaper or magazine and dig your fork into the amazing cheesecake, or a plate of local grilled cheeses, or opt for hand-made, saffron-infused ravioli or the roast vegetable lasagna. There's a good variety of meat dishes (steak, lamb) sourced from and handpicked by a local butcher. An assortment of curries will keep Hoggart's fellow Brits happy, washed down with a swig of one of the hand-selected Turkish wines. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
