Located right on the main pedestrian drag of the old city, the 2-year-old Kaleiçi Lodge combines simplicity, old-world elegance and the value of a locally-owned B&B. Wrought iron lighting fixtures and the odd oversized copper or ceramic urn accent the marble-floored common areas. Try to book one of the rooms on the first floor (above lobby level), or if you don't mind low garret style wooden-beamed ceilings, then opt for the top floor, with its two, two-bedroom setups complete with small balcony and views galore. The peaceful, marbled rear garden patio is an intimate oasis of relaxation, and you can practice your bilingual skills on the mostly Turkish-speaking staff.
