Frommer's Review
This is the most-established, extensive, and popular resort in the Arenal area. Steady improvements in service and amenities have only made this a better option over the years. Many rooms have excellent, direct views of the volcano. Rooms on the upper floors of the 300-block building have the best vistas. However, quite a few of the rooms have obstructed, or no, views. My advice: Book a "Standard Superior," which will come with a view that is definitely worth the $30 (£15) splurge over the straight "Standard."
All rooms are very spacious, with heavy, dark-stained wooden furniture. Most come with a private terrace or balcony with a table and a couple of chairs. Nine of the rooms are truly accessible to travelers with disabilities, and 11 are suites with separate sitting rooms, many with a private volcano-view Jacuzzi. The newer Forest Deluxe rooms are perhaps some of the plusher rooms here, with a private mosaic tile Jacuzzi and plasma screen television, but, as the name suggests, they come with forest and not volcano views. Guests enjoy privileges at the spectacular hot-springs complex and spa across the street, including slightly extended hours.
As you drive along the main road between La Fortuna and Lake Arenal, you'll see the resort on your right. About 90m (295 ft.) or so later, around a sharp bend, the hot springs and spa will be on your left.
Facilities:
2 restaurants; 2 bars; large pool w/swim-up bar; exercise room; extensive hot springs and spa facilities; Jacuzzi; tour desk; in-room massage; laundry service; Wi-Fi
