Restaurants

None of the small cafes and restaurants in Argos is worth seeking out, but the conveniently located Retro and Aigle, on the main square, have the usual chops, salads, and souvlaki, as well as pizza and veal in lemon sauce (moskari lemonato). Lunch or dinner costs from 15€ ($20) with beer or wine.

Argos Ouzo -- One of Greece's most distinguished ouzos, Mavrakis, has been made in Argos since 1864 and can be purchased in handsome metal bottles in the original shop (with many of its original furnishings) at 20 Vas. Konstantinou on the main plateia, Plateia Ayiou Petrou.
