Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino Review
The Marriott's airy, tastefully subdued rooms are the largest in any of Aruba's luxury High-Rise hotels. Its 9-sq.-m (97-sq.-ft.) balconies are also the most commodious in the area. As the last resort along Palm Beach, the Marriott boasts a beach that's ideal for sunbathers craving space, with ample palapas and palm trees to relax under. In 2009, the resort underwent a $50-million renovation, which updated its guest rooms, public spaces, and facade, making the resort feel modern, spacious, and luxurious. The renovation also added the Tradewinds Club, an executive floor that is a type of hotel within a hotel, with a lounge that offers snacks and beverages throughout the day. Guests run the gamut from honeymooners to retirees to corporate-incentive rewardees. There are plenty of families, too, but children here are well-behaved. The eight-story complex forms a U that overlooks a large free-form pool, a waterfall, and lush palm, banana, and jacaranda trees. The beachside seafood restaurant, Simply Fish, makes for a great sunset meal. The Mandara Spa at the Marriott's sister property, the Ocean Club, offers Aruba's most spiritually transformative indoor experience. Shopping arcades and a casino cater to your material needs. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
