By Car -- Access by car is via the A3 Autobahn east and west.

Visitor Information

Contact Tourist-Information, Schlossplatz 1 (tel. 06021/395800; www.info-aschaffenburg.de). It's open April to September Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm and Saturday 9am to 1pm, October to March Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 1pm.

Getting Around

Aschaffenburg and the immediate region around it are served by a network of green-painted buses whose junction point is the Hauptbahnhof, the city's main railway station. Because many of the streets within the city's historic core are reserved for pedestrians, many sightseers take bus no. 1, 4, 5, or 8 between the Hauptbahnhof and the Stadthalle (town hall), immediately adjacent to the Altstadt. Buses run daily 5:30am to 9pm. Rides within the central zone cost 1.50€ per person each way. An all-day ticket goes for 3.50€. For information, call the city tourist office (tel. 06021/395800).
