Frommer's Review
If the Great Gatsby were alive today, Horizons would surely be his first choice for dining. It certainly would have been the choice of Gatsby's creator, F. Scott Fitzgerald, who was a frequent visitor to the inn some 60 years ago. The most formal, and also the best, restaurant in greater Asheville occupies a prominent position in the city's grandest resort. It's consistently rated among the finest in the nation and has won the AAA Four Diamond Award for 7 consecutive years.
Patrons are rewarded with exceptional service and gratifying cuisine. In the formal, ground-level setting in the resort's Sammons Wing, innovative yet classic cuisine is served. Specialties depend on what's fresh at the market on any given day. It may be brook trout, bouillabaisse, or medallions of venison. Dinner includes soup or salad, a main course, dessert, and a nonalcoholic beverage. One food critic declared that the dinner was on a scale that recalled "the scope of Thomas Wolfe's 626-page magnum opus." The wine list is very extensive.
