Frommer's Review
Atlanta's best and most famous steakhouse, Bone's is a top power-lunch venue for the expense-account crowd, who are provided with notepads and phones at the midday meal. As many deals as steaks are cut here, and the place is rich with celebrity lore. When Bob Hope dined here, everyone respected his privacy until he rose to leave; then the entire dining room gave him a standing ovation. During his presidency, the elder George Bush came in for dinner one night, booking six surrounding tables for his Secret Service men (they ate, too). The setting is traditional masculine-clubby.
The star of the menu is prime-aged, corn-fed Iowa beef, hand cut on the premises and always prepared exactly as ordered. Thick, juicy lamb chops are excellent alternatives to the beef. As noted for its seafood as for its steaks and chops, Bone's flies Maine lobsters in daily and serves fresh Gulf Coast crab and shrimp. Lighter entrees are available at lunch, along with salads, sandwiches, and soups. The wine gallery houses over 500 selections; international in scope; it highlights French and Californian bottles. The ultra-rich desserts include "Mountain-high Pie" -- layers of chocolate chip, rum raisin, and vanilla ice cream.
