Frommer's Review
This spot is a combination of an upscale cafe and a gourmet bakery. The cafe portion is more casual and relaxed than the Buckhead Diner, its glitzy cousin across the street, but the food is still upscale. The menu is large and varied, with wonderful soups and hearty sandwiches on bread baked in the neighboring bakery. There are also interesting main-dish salads, including the longtime favorite, a chicken-, egg-, and tuna-salad trio. Weekday breakfasts include fresh-baked pastries, crepes, Belgian waffles, and traditional fare such as poached eggs with cheddar-cheese grits. Weekend brunch is a busy time here, with a fancier menu that features delicious dishes such as two pan-poached eggs with portobello mushrooms and crispy prosciutto topped with a port-wine glaze.
About half the space is given over to a vast bakery, the Buckhead Bread Company, which displays many varieties of fresh-baked bread each day -- everything from focaccia flavored with fresh rosemary and basil to honeyed eight-grain loaves studded with roasted sunflower seeds. The gorgeous pastries have a French pedigree that will transport you to the Left Bank. You can get your sweet to go, or enjoy it on the small patio with a cup of specialty coffee.
