Frommer's Review
Grab a plate and sit down at the family dinner table at this upbeat, energetic establishment. Housed in a former warehouse on an odd little street filled with antiques shops and galleries, this restaurant feels like a sunny loft in the middle of New York's SoHo. It's noisy as the devil, so if that bothers you, ask for a table on the enclosed patio.
Service is friendly, and meals are presented in traditional family style, with generous platters designed to serve two or three people. Many of the selections are available as half orders, but it's more fun to go for broke and share around the table. The menu is as huge as the portions, and everyone in the family (kids included) will be able to find something they can't live without. Specialties include tender and crisp fried calamari; chicken di Napoli, a lightly breaded, sautéed chicken breast with fresh tomato and basil in balsamic vinaigrette; and shrimp fra diavolo, sautéed with hot pepper and tomato sauce. The latter is quite good, especially when accompanied by hefty, chewy squares of focaccia. The desserts are forgettable, but who has room anyway? P.S. There's no pizza here.
