Frommer's Review
Tucked away on a secluded industrial street in a renovated warehouse near Emory University, the Floataway Café is not easy to find, but people have been flocking here since the restaurant opened in 1998. This is the second venture by Anne Quatrano and Clifford Harrison of the renowned Bacchanalia in Midtown; the restaurant and menu here are less formal, but the food is of the same high quality. The only drawback to this place is that it can be as loud as a working warehouse. Ask for a table away from the bar, which can be quite boisterous.
The menu changes daily, with an emphasis on fresh and local organic produce and unusual ingredients. You'll find succulent wood-grilled or roasted meats and seafood, homemade pastas, even a couple of pizzas -- all inventively prepared. One favorite is a house specialty: grilled steak with pommes frites and red-wine shallot butter. You can make a meal of the starters: ricotta-stuffed sautéed squash blossoms and prosciutto with Georgia figs are two that shouldn't be passed up if they're available. The wine list has an international slant and complements the food.
