Frommer's Review
Known simply as "the Majestic" to locals, this all-night restaurant has been serving up diner food and a slice of life since 1935. You'll find obnoxious drunks, middle-class regulars, working girls, cops, street people, couples on dates, you name it. Sooner or later just about everybody comes to the Majestic for a late-night breakfast, a cup of coffee, or just to take in the scene. The late Nick Bitzis, a longtime owner who used to keep an aluminum baseball bat behind the register, once chased a group of customers with a butcher knife for smoking pot in one of the booths. Since the Majestic is open 24 hours, things invariably get more interesting as the night goes on.
