Lancelot “Capability” Brown, the famous English landscaper who virtually invented landscape gardening in the 18th century, laid out the elegant grounds at this inviting white manor house. Inside the decor is avowedly traditional in style, with plenty of period detail and heritage paint colors. Rooms have antique furnishings (including a four-poster bed in one). All have views of the grounds. Breakfasts are outstanding, and the Castle Grove restaurant is one of the best in the region. Check the website for dinner/bed-and-breakfast packages.
