Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum

This is a great museum for people who don't enjoy being cooped up in a stuffy, hushed space. A sculptor at the University of Texas for 40 years, Charles Umlauf donated his home, studio, and more than 250 pieces of artwork to the city of Austin, which maintains the wooded native garden where much of the sculpture is displayed. Umlauf, whose pieces reside in such places as the Smithsonian Institution and New York's Metropolitan Museum, worked in many media and styles. Though he used several models, the one you're likely to recognize is Farrah Fawcett, Umlauf's most famous UT student. The museum video is captioned for those who are hearing-impaired, and, with advance notice, "touch tours" can be arranged for those who are blind or visually impaired.
