23km (14 miles) east of Nevsehir; 6.5km (4 miles) east of Göreme
This is the quintessential Anatolian village, a place where life hasn't changed for centuries. A narrow ravine cuts through the bottom of the village with the trickling Içeridere River running the length of the valley all the way to Golgoli Hill, a 6.5km (4-mile) hike away. You can fill up a bottle of sparkling fresh spring water from a source on the edge of the village, while exploring eerie, untouched caves and rock-cut churches. There's a teahouse for refreshment, and if you look enough like you don't fit in, somebody in the village will feed you. But definitely try some of the fresh seasonal fruits that sell at the morning market, the only retail establishment in town (for now).
