Hotel-Pension Villa Kristina

This charming and personal establishment was built in 1892 as a simple inn for the many hunters who frequented the region. Friedl Raudaschl bought the place in the 1970s, updated its plumbing and electricity, and named it after his wife, Krista, who continues to manage it with him today. The hotel lies on ample private grounds beside the River Traun and the road leading to Altaussee, about a 10-minute walk from Bad Aussee. Inside and out, the steep-roofed, wood-trimmed house is loaded with handcrafted details. Medium-size rooms are filled with a certain Eastern Austrian charm, although modern luxuries, including efficiently organized bathrooms are present. The best rooms have private balconies with great views. The hotel has a home library and a piano, and meals are served only to guests who request them in advance.
