Frommer's Review
Open year-round, this is the oldest casino in Germany, popular for more than 200 years. Dostoyevsky is said to have written The Gambler after he lost his shirt, and almost his mind, at the tables here. The casino rooms were designed in the style of an elegant French château. Jackets and ties for men are mandatory, as is eveningwear for women. To enter during gambling hours, you must possess a valid passport or identification card and be at least 21 years old.
The historic gaming rooms may be viewed daily 9:30am to noon on a tour costing 5€ ($8) for adults, 3€ ($4.80) for children 15 and under. For those who want to gamble later, a full day's ticket is available for 3€ ($4.80). The minimum stake is 5€ ($8), but visitors are not obligated to play. Hours are daily 2pm to 2am (Fri-Sat until 3am).

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
