Hotel Cerro Punta ReviewIt's a little low on style, but Hotel Cerro Punta is clean and inexpensive. The hotel, built in 1983, is on the Cerro Punta's main drag, and has a couple of rooms with mountain views (others are darker and do not have views). Guest rooms have a double bed and a twin that are reasonably comfortable. The Cerro Punta locals who run this hotel are nice people, and the restaurant here serves local dishes that cost between $4 and $9 (£2-£4.50). My only caveat is that the owner is a hunter, and he's decorated his restaurant with the mounted animal heads and skins of native fauna -- which might rub nature lovers the wrong way. Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
