The West Coast Game Park, 46914 U.S. 101 S. (tel. 541/347-3106; www.gameparksafari.com), 7 miles south of Bandon, bills itself as America's largest wild-animal petting park and is a must for families. Depending on what young animals they have at the time of your visit, you might be able to play with a leopard, tiger, or bear cub. The park is open daily from 9am to 7pm in summer, 9am to 5pm in spring and fall (call for hours in other months). Admission is $13 for adults, $12 for seniors, $8.50 for children 7 to 12, $5.50 for children 2 to 6.
Shopping is one of Bandon's main attractions, and in Old Town Bandon, just off U.S. 101, you'll find some interesting shops and galleries. A couple of galleries sell artworks by regional artists. One of the better ones is the Bandon Glass Art Studio at 240 U.S. 101 (tel. 541/347-4723; www.dutchschulze.com), which is just across the highway from Old Town. Here you can watch glass direct from the furnace being made into the paperweights or fluted glass bowls the gallery sells.
At Faber Farms, 54982 Morrison Rd. (tel. 541/347-1166), a working cranberry farm, you can see how cranberries are grown and sample a variety of cranberry products. If you visit in October, you'll be there for the harvest. To reach the farm, drive 1 1/2 miles north of Florence, turn east on Morrison Road, and continue another mile.
