When to GoIn peak season, hotels charge top rates and restaurants are jammed. Banff and Jasper have two peaks: summer, mid-June to late August, when it rarely climbs above 77°F (25°C), making it ideal for hikers and backpackers; and winter, from December to February, when skiers flock to what is probably the finest skiing terrain in all Canada. March to May is decidedly off-season: hotels cut rates significantly, and you can choose the best table in any eatery. There's plenty of rain in the warmer months, so don't forget to bring some suitable rainwear. Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice.
