A handsome cedar-and-oak structure with a cosmopolitan air, the Banff Park Lodge is a quiet block-and-a-half off the town's main street, near the Bow River. Calm and sophisticated are the key words here: All rooms are soundproof, and wild, après-ski cavorting isn't the norm, or even much encouraged. The lodge will feel like a tranquil retreat after a day in frantic Banff. The standard rooms are spacious and exceptionally well furnished, all with balconies.
