Frommer's Review
This exclusive retreat, a sophisticated sanctuary of tranquility and privacy strictly reserved for adults, doesn't even call itself a hotel but "a concept." That manages to combine the best of posh upscale Britain with überhip Miami Beach. At the moment you arrive a cheerful and attractive "ambassador," clad in white linen, materializes to serve you during your stay. It boasts the most exotic-looking facade in Barbados, a plan that was activated by previous owners who transformed a then somewhat banal waterfront hotel into a mock-medieval fortress, replete with stone archways, dozens of flickering torches, and a trussed wooden drawbridge spanning a "defensive" moat studded with water lilies. Living units manage to be both plush and high-tech at the same time, each configured as a luxuriously furnished suite with granite surfaces and lots of teak.
