The Colony is a classic motor court with a handful of motel rooms and a battery of cottages around a long green. It will be most appreciated by those with a taste for authentic retro; others may decide to look for something with updated amenities. The rooms are furnished in a simple 1970s style that won't win any awards for decor, but all are comfortable, and many have kitchenettes. Just across Route 3 from a cobblestone beach, and a 10-minute drive from Bar Harbor, it offers one of the better values on the island.
