Hostellerie de Levernois ReviewUnder Jean Croet and his sons, this became one of the most celebrated restaurants of regional France. New owners are now in charge, and the restaurant is still trying to find its way. It creates grand cuisine in a stone-sided 17th-century maison bourgeoise in a 3.2-hectare (8-acre) park. The kitchen doesn't emphasize virtuoso techniques, but it knows what to do with first-class ingredients. The snails in puff pastry are a pure delight, as is a brochette of crayfish tails with spicy sauce. Chickens for roasting come from Bresse and are acclaimed as the best in France. The inn rents 18 carefully decorated rooms in a well-designed modern annex. They have TV, air-conditioning, and (in most) tub/shower combos. Doubles cost 130€ to 265€; the suites go for 350€.
