St. Regis Beijing (Beijing Guoji Julebu Fandian) ReviewIt was once the best hotel in town, but the St. Regis no longer stands out as the front-runner with so many new five-star hotels vying for attention. Still, rooms are homey and comfortable, with Chinese touches, modern Bose speakers, big flatscreen televisions, and DVD players. Beds are plush and feature high-thread-count sheets, and bathrooms have been made fancy with white marble. One unique touch is the complimentary tea and coffee service, offered throughout the day and brought by a butler in coattails. Service is professional and unobtrusive. The health club and pool is popular with expatriates, as is the Sunday Champagne brunch. The central location, near embassies, the CBD (Central Business District), and the Forbidden City, makes this a good choice for business and leisure travelers alike. Facilities: 5 restaurants; bar; billiards room; butler service; cigar and wine-tasting rooms; concierge; forex; well-equipped exercise room; gorgeous indoor pool (25m/82 ft.); putting green and driving area; room service; smoke-free rooms; spa; squash courts Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
