Review of The Village at SanlitunThis is the place to see and be seen. A team of well-known and international names from the architect world is responsible for the look of this modern shopping complex, which is composed of several free-standing, multistory buildings connected by covered walkways. Shoppers congregate in the central outdoor courtyard to people-watch or refuel with a Frappuccino. Anchor stores include the first Apple Experience Store in Asia and the world's largest adidas flagship. Aside from shopping, popular restaurants are on the second and third floors, a movie theater is in the basement, and cafes are on the main level. For now, only the south "phase" is open, composed of midrange labels like Mango and United Colors of Benetton. The swankier north phase beside the Opposite House hotel will host luxury brands; it should be open by the time you read this. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
