The restaurant at the Bullfrog Inn, 25 Half Moon Inn (tel. 822-3425), which serves a mix of local and international cuisine, is one of the better restaurants in Belmopan proper. Budget travelers and those looking for some local flavor should probably grab food from the various vendors and stalls at the central market. But this option is not for those with delicate digestive tracts.
Some of your best options lie just outside of the city, about 16 miles (26km) east along the Western Highway at Mile Marker 32, where you'll find three popular roadside restaurants and bars: Cheers (tel. 822-8014), Amigos (tel. 820-2014), and J. B. Watering Hole (tel. 820-2071). Of these, J. B.'s is the most famous, as it was reportedly Harrison Ford's favorite haunt during the filming of The Mosquito Coast. However, J. B.'s has changed hands several times in recent years, and locals insist that Amigos and Cheers are currently better.
