Frommer's Review
With bold architectural and decor touches, and a prime location amidst dense forests at the heart of the Caves Branch river and cave network, Jaguar Paw is one of the more unique lodges in Belize. The rooms here are housed in a series of fourplex buildings spread through the lush grounds. While each room is identical in size, they are radically different in decor, each sporting a unique motif. My favorites include the Africa, Aboriginal, and Shell rooms. Honeymooners or couples looking for some "jungle fever" should request the Bordello room. All of the rooms are plenty spacious and have a small front porch area.
This hotel's greatest attraction is its location on the banks of the Caves Branch River, from which the popular cave tubing trips leave, and just a 5-minute walk from the entrance to the very impressive Crystal Cave. The owners were instrumental in the exploration of the surrounding cave system, and their dedication to the exploration and preservation is very apparent. Since most of the cruise ships use Jaguar Paw for their cave tubing excursions, guests here can usually avoid the crowds by coordinating with the hotel and going before or after the masses hit the river. These folks also have a zip-line canopy tour on site.
