This rather nondescript restaurant on Bend's busy Third Street is one of my favorite restaurants in town. With creative food and good service, Zydeco Kitchen is a far more enjoyable place for dinner than some of the much publicized downtown restaurants. Despite the name, this is not specifically a Cajun or New Orleans-style restaurant, although you can start your meal with wonderful shrimp and grits cakes. After that, I always go for the grilled redfish with Dungeness crab and spicy Zydeco sauce. Be sure to start your meal with a blueberry martini and finish up with the almond wet cake, which is like the classic Latin American tres leches cake.
