McMenamins Old St. Francis School Hotel

Attention, lapsed Catholics (and anyone else who attended parochial school): You can finally sleep in class without getting your knuckles smacked by a ruler. McMenamins, the Portland-based brewpub empire, has converted this former Catholic school into the coolest hotel in central Oregon. Guest rooms are simply furnished and, with their wood paneling, feel like cabins. There are also four cute cottages available. What makes this place really special, though, are all the great little bars and garden spaces scattered around the property. There's a pub, of course, plus a cigar bar in an old shed, a billiards room, and free live music on Thursday nights. There's also a very comfy movie theater that serves food and beer. After a long day of hiking or skiing, you can soak your muscles in the giant hot tub, which resembles a classic Turkish bath.
