Diner aficionados make pilgrimages to enjoy the ambience of this 1945 Silk City classic. Blue-plate dinner specials include vegetables, rice, soup or salad, rolls, and rice pudding for dessert. A bit incongruously, fancier and vegetarian fare is also available; especially good is the grilled portobello on sourdough. But you come here for diner staples such as turkey with gravy, big slabs of cornbread French toast, or butterscotchy Indian pudding with vanilla ice cream. Of course, the place also offers a great selection of pies, such as blackberry, pumpkin, and chocolate cream.
