The Four Chimneys Inn ReviewThis 1912 Colonial Revival catches your eye as you roll into Bennington from the west; it's at the edge of Old Bennington, so the towering Bennington Monument looms just over its shoulder. Set back from Route 7 on an 11-acre, nicely landscaped lot, this imposing white three-story structure features -- no surprise -- four prominent chimneys. It was once a fancy-pants restaurant where such luminaries as Liz Taylor and Walt Disney supped. Today, the guest rooms (in the main inn, an ice house, and a carriage house) are inviting and homey; some sport real fireplaces burning actual wood, and some have nice Jacuzzis, four-poster beds, and/or mountain views. The overall atmosphere seems to be improving with the latest owners, the Greens, who married at the inn.
