Frommer's Review
Located in the same building as Little Venice, L'Oriental is a pan-Asian restaurant with a penchant for gracefully mixing cuisines as diverse as those of Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, and China. The restaurant is situated in a mahogany-and-stone-lined room with bridges, a pagoda, and lots of Oriental art. Within the efficiently organized space, you'll find an oyster, salmon, sushi, and caviar bar; and a teppanyaki table where a team of Japan-trained chefs prepares food on a super-hot grill right in front of you. Since L'Oriental prides itself on the variety of its all-Asian cuisine, no one will mind if you "fuse" together a meal from the far corners of the world's biggest continent. Tuesday night features a winning all-Chinese sampler menu, with tastings from most of the selections on the menu, available for $30 (£16) per person. The cuisine is reliable and good, without ever rising to the ranks of sublime. L'Oriental is a good choice for vegetarians and the health conscious. Most dishes are at the lower end of the price range listed below.
