Frommer's Review
Cameron and Deirdre Hill own this homestead, which was built in 1720 on a dairy farm. (Sisters Maude, Ada, and Mary Astwood stipulated in their will that the house should always carry their name.) The white-sided apartment complex occupies a peaceful setting, overlooking lightly wooded meadows and the south shore. The closest large beach, Long Bay, is .5km (1/3 mile) away; Astwood Beach is only a 3-minute stroll from the complex.
Each self-contained apartment has a ceiling fan and a terrace or porch. Local phone calls are free. Some units have sitting rooms, and all have kitchens or kitchenettes equipped with English china. Most of the kitchens are generously proportioned units with stoves, microwaves, and enough basic accessories to prepare a real meal. A few smaller units have just microwaves and stovetop burners. Each unit has a small tiled bathroom, with a shower.
There's a mini-mart less than 3km (1 3/4 miles) away. A grocery store somewhat farther away delivers orders over $20 (£10). A building added in 1985 has a communal terrace, pavilion, and TV.
Facilities:
Outdoor pool; sauna; bike rentals; babysitting; coin-operated laundry; rooms for those w/limited mobility; gas-fired barbecue grills
