Frommer's Review
This is Bermuda's most casual getaway, though it's far from luxurious and may seem a bit spartan for some visitors, appealing to younger and more active adults. It opened in May 2005, and offers bungalow-style living. Accommodations are perched on stilts, some overlooking the ocean, with glass floors "spying" on the sea creatures below -- a rather novel twist, evocative of a glass-bottom boat. You can select from these simply decorated cabanas spread across 7.3 waterfront hectares (18 acres). True to its name, the resort opens onto nine beaches, but only at high tide.
It's built on a long peninsula with numerous coves and limestone grottos in addition to those beaches. Picnic tables, chaise longues, benches, and hammocks are spread around the property, and aquatic options abound, including Hobie catamarans and sea kayaks. The cabanas, with ocean vistas, have ample windows and double doors opening onto verandas. Tip: Opt for one of eight cabanas aptly named "Top Banana"; they're scattered along the coastline and have the most panoramic views of the Atlantic. Each cabana offers a small bathroom with shower (no tub). The living area has a queen bed, a futon sofa that doubles as a place to sleep, a table, and two chairs. The Hi Tide restaurant serves a full menu as well as tapas. The chefs are also known for their gourmet picnic packages. The laid-back beach bar and grill, Dark 'n Stormy, overlooks the sea.
