Frommer's Review
Gallic owner Raymond Blanc made his fame with Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons outside Oxford. Since that time his empire has expanded, now taking in the city of Birmingham. In his latest outpost, he brings not haute cuisine but a brasserie-style regional French menu to Birmingham, and does so exceedingly well. It's one of your best bets for dining in the city. The setting is sophisticated and modern, with polished metal, lots of plate glass, and blond woods. You get not only an excellent cuisine, but fine service and good value for the money.
The cookery is competent, the presentation a strong point, and the ingredients first-rate. Dip into such delights as chicken stuffed with flap mushrooms and served with a wild-mushroom risotto, or else sample calves' liver with smoked bacon, or perhaps fish cakes made with salmon and crab. The most tantalizing appetizers include Burgundian snails in garlic butter or steamed Loch Fyne mussels with a creamy white-wine sauce.

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
