De Vere Heron's Reach

This hotel symbolizes Blackpool's renewal. It was erected on 96 flat and sandy hectares (236 acres) in 1992, adjacent to the town's zoo and Stanley Park. Designed in a postmodern style that some visitors liken to a mansard-roofed French château, it evokes Las Vegas with a Midlands accent, partly because of the cheerful razzle-dazzle its hardworking staff throws into their jobs and partly because of the many diversions on hand. Bedrooms are traditional but modern, done with light woods; despite their relative youth, they were renovated early in 2003 and offer such extras as PlayStations. Most rooms open onto views of a golf course, and each offers the most comfortable beds in Blackpool hoteldom. Eight rooms are large enough for families.
