Frommer's Review
Emus, llamas, black swans, two camels, and a Scottish Highland ox graze in the meadow behind the Victorian Hotel Manisses, only the most visible part of a small hospitality empire. Other properties include The 1661 Inn & Guest House, up the hill, and the Dodge, Dewey, and Nicholas Ball cottages. (Children are welcome in five of the six buildings; smoking is allowed in one.) Guest rooms in the hotel utilize oak antiques and lots of wicker; some units have TVs and/or fireplaces. The median age in the hotel is noticeably grayer than in the other buildings, where families tend to gather. Common rooms in The 1661 Inn host an afternoon "wine and nibble" hour, while the Manisses parlor serves desserts and flaming coffees in the evening. Stylish dining is featured in the main dining room, with comparable fare in the more casual Gatsby Room. Picnic lunches are also prepared for guests. The inn is now open year-round, although the restaurants are closed in winter.
Facilities:
2 restaurants; bar; concierge; babysitting
