If you can't afford your own South Florida beach house -- and why bother with all the maintenance, anyway? -- Crane's BeachHouse, meticulously run and maintained by husband and wife Michael and Cheryl Crane, is a haven away from home, located just 1 block from the beach and right in the middle of historic Delray Beach. The main draws here are the whimsical, tropical suites, in which every piece of furniture and bric-a-brac is completely original and oftentimes crafted by local artists. Although each unit has its own theme -- Hawaii, Amazon, Anacapri, and Capetown, for instance -- the beds are all the same, in that they are downright heavenly. Lush gardens, a Tiki bar, and a swimming pool leave you with little reason to flee the premises, but when you do, you'll want to return as quickly as possible.
