It's almost impossible to extract enough superlatives to describe this Relais & Châteaux property, a stunning display of understated elegance and superior taste. Fashioned like a stately country villa, the hotel was built from the ground up on a scrubby tract of land at the top of Türkbükü by the architect, Ahmet Igdirligil, and designer, Hakan Ezer. Using the elements of classic Ottoman design, they incorporated such features as hand-carved stonework, outdoor living spaces, and thick stone walls. The rooms are huge and luxuriously rustic, and bathrooms are embellished with plush towels (on warmers), candles, and potpourri. Although the property has no access to the bay, the luxuriant grounds -- caressed by the swaying of saz plants in the breeze -- along with amenities you never thought you'd need, keep your mind elsewhere. The hamam, reserved by the hour for private use (outside guests pay $125 for two), enjoys views of the bay via a picture window. Two of the suites share private use of an additional terrace pool. A cinema screening room provides distractions of a large selection of films or keeps young ones occupied with a huge video-game station. And the cellar restaurant, with its velours, chandeliers, stone, and ancient wood, could easily set the stage for a scene for Camelot. Ultimately, the Ada Hotel is in a class all itself.
