Lysekil Havshotell

This place has more of a down-home style than the previously recommended Hotel Lysekil. Less than a kilometer (1/2 mile) west of the town center, the Lysekil began business in 1900 as an upscale private home. Set within its own gardens behind a turn-of-the-20th-century scarlet-and-white facade, it has polite, well-rehearsed service, public rooms that evoke a bygone age, and comfortable bedrooms that are renovated. The staff here will prepare you a simple platter of food on request -- virtually whenever you want it -- but other than breakfast, meals are not served on a regular basis. Access from the center of Lysekil is particularly pleasant, as you can follow the seafront quays most of the way.
