Restaurants

While most restaurants on this island serve up gourmet meals, the atmosphere is always friendly and relaxed. While some things such as french fries are clearly frozen, you can't go wrong if you opt for local favorites or the chef's specials. Most desserts are homemade.

Sustainable Eating

Due to the decline of local species, many restaurants have made a choice to stop serving Caribbean lobster and conch. It's also recommended that reef fish (such as grouper, snapper, and grunt) be avoided -- even if the server tells you its okay. Tasty, fresh, and ecofriendy alternatives are pelagic species that live out in open water, such as dorado, wahoo, and barracuda. If seafood isn't your game, don't be afraid to try some local goat cheese or goat stew; while cute, the island's goats are quite abundant!
