Planning a TripGetting There Depending on the direction you're coming from, the Bonavista Peninsula can be reached from the Trans-Canada Highway via Route 233, Route 230, or Route 230A. Route 230 runs all the way to the tip of the cape; Route 235 forms a partial loop back and offers some splendid water views along the way. The round-trip from Clarenville to the tip is approximately 232km (144 miles). Visitor Information Consult the Discovery Trail Tourism Association (tel. 866-420-3255 or 709/466-3845; www.thediscoverytrail.org) at 54 Manitoba Dr. in Clarenville with your questions; they have the best information about this stunningly lovely and historically fascinating region. Get there by car by taking Route 230A off the Trans-Canada Highway; the association is located nearly at the junction of the two roads. This is about 40km (25 miles) south of Terra Nova National Park, and from here it's about another 75km (47 miles) down the side road to Trinity. The tourism association also maintains a greatly helpful website, which can be found on the Web at www.thediscoverytrail.org.
