Getting There

By Plane -- The nearest airport is Flughafen Köln/Bonn). Buses from the airport to Bonn's main rail station run every 30 minutes daily 6am to 10:30pm.

By Train -- The Bonn Hauptbahnhof is on a major rail line, with connections to most German cities. There are 12 trains daily to Berlin (trip time: 5 hr.), more than 30 trains to Frankfurt (trip time: 2 hr.), and service to Cologne every 15 minutes (trip time: 20 min.). By Bus -- Long-distance bus service goes to such cities as Munich, Stuttgart, Aachen, Brussels, and London. For information, call Deutsches Touring GmbH in Frankfurt (tel. 069/7903501). Regional bus service to Bad Godesberg and nearby towns is provided by Regionalverkehr Köln GmbH at Meckenheim (tel. 0228/7111).

By Car -- Access is by the A565 Autobahn connecting with the A3 Autobahn from the north or south.

Visitor Information

Go to the Bonn Tourist Office, Windeckstrasse 1 (tel. 0228/775000; www.bonn.de), open Monday to Friday 9am to 6:30pm, Saturday 9am to 4pm, and Sunday 10am to 2pm.

Getting Around

If you visit the Reisenzentrum under the Bonn railway station, you can pick up a free map outlining the city's transportation network. The office is open Monday to Saturday 5:30am to 10pm and Sunday 6:30am to 10pm. Bus or S-Bahn/U-Bahn tickets cost 1.50€ to 9.30€ ($2.40-$15). You can also purchase a day ticket costing 5.20€ to 20€ ($8.30-$31).
